L'Oréal Paris last night held its 13th annual Women of Worth Awards at the Pierre Hotel in New York.
Brand ambassadors Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria, Aja Naomi King, Andie MacDowell and Amber Heard attended as presenters, alongside celebrities and other notable people such as Arianna Huffington, model Iskra Lawrence, Dr. Mehmet Oz, "Bloomberg Businessweek" host Carol Massar and former White House press secretary Dana Perino. A handful of company executives also showed up to celebrate the night's honorees, including L'Oréal USA president and chief executive officer Frédéric Rozé, L'Oréal Paris president Tim Coolican, and Karen Fondu, former L'Oréal Paris president and presently chairwoman of L'Oréal Paris Women of Worth.
Christy Silva of Thorndale, Pa., was named National Honoree and received a $25,000 grant for her work on Aidan's Heart Foundation, a non-profit education that supports prevention and response to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. The National Honoree is chosen every year by a public vote. Nine other women received $10,000 grants.
Women of Worth is a philanthropic program that honors women who run local charities within their communities, and grants them funds to support their organizations. The annual event is a highlight of the year for many in the company, executives in the audience told WWD, with the company pouring significant efforts into promoting it. This year, L'Oréal funded an ad campaign inside the Westfield World Trade Center mall.
Said Coolican, "Women of Worth is a passion project for all of us at L'Oréal."
